Client Overview

The Lagos Cultural Weekend is a landmark three-day celebration designed to showcase Lagos as Africa’s cultural capital, where heritage, tradition, and modern creativity converge. The event aims to engage both dignitaries and the general public in immersive experiences that highlight Lagos’ rich cultural identity, including music, art, fashion, storytelling, and culinary traditions. With a strong focus on inclusivity, economic empowerment, and cultural continuity, the initiative seeks to leave a lasting legacy for Lagosians while promoting the city as a hub for cultural tourism and creative expression.

The Ask

The client required a comprehensive multi-day festival that could simultaneously serve both VIP delegates and the general public, offering curated cultural experiences across multiple locations. The key objectives included:

  • Designing and executing a two-day VIP Heritage Tour showcasing iconic Lagos cultural landmarks and exclusive experiences for dignitaries and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Establishing five simultaneous Cultural Villages across the IBILE divisions (Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, and Epe) to engage the wider community through food, art, music, and local trade.
  • Creating immersive marketplaces and food courts that highlight Lagos-based artisans, chefs, and small businesses, fostering economic growth.
  • Organizing a grand finale, Culturati, to unite all participants in a large-scale celebration of Lagos’ heritage through fashion parades, culinary showcases, live music, storytelling, and awards for cultural ambassadors.

Ensuring seamless logistics, security, and volunteer management across all locations.

Our Solution

To address the client’s brief, the company developed a detailed, phased operational plan. For the VIP Heritage Tour, we curated luxury breakfast experiences, guided tours of cultural hubs such as the J. Randle Centre and National Museum Lagos, and exclusive performances and networking opportunities, ensuring dignitaries experienced the depth of Lagos’ heritage.

For the IBILE Cultural Villages, we created five parallel mini-festivals, each incorporating marketplaces, food courts, live performances, storytelling stages, and immersive cultural demonstrations. Local vendors and artisans were onboarded, trained, and supported with branded stalls, POS systems, and live demonstrations to boost visibility and economic engagement. Each village was designed to reflect the unique cultural heartbeat of its division, fostering community participation and cultural continuity.

For Culturati, the grand finale, we delivered a multi-sensory celebration that brought together fashion, culinary experiences, visual arts, and live music. The program included a fashion parade, culinary storytelling by chefs, art installations, and award ceremonies recognizing young cultural ambassadors and iconic figures. Comprehensive event logistics ensured smooth transportation, security, volunteer coordination, and real-time management across all venues, creating a seamless and memorable experience for every attendee.
