FESTAC@50 as a National Assignment

FESTAC’77 was not an ordinary cultural event. It was a statement of national ambition, continental leadership, and global Black identity. It positioned Nigeria, at a critical post-colonial moment, as the cultural host of the Black world.

Fifty years later, FESTAC@50 is not simply an anniversary. It is a national assignment.

It carries cultural, political, diplomatic, economic, and social weight, it involves the
Federal Government institutions, state and local governments, traditional authorities,
the diaspora, private sector leaders, and global cultural actors.
